E-Mails between Jamie (USA/China) and Team Knuddel (Jever, Germany)

Hey KNUDDEL My name is Jamie, I am 18, as of tomorrow. I am an American living in China. We would like to write about music: - Which kind of music do you like? I LOVE METAL! the harder the better. - How are concerts like? In America, they are so great, they are big, loud and wild and crazy fun! Maushing is a lot of fun. - Do you play an instrument or do you have a band? I wish. I am musicly challanged. And about parties: - How often do you have parties? Never, my parental units hate them. - What are they like? Parties are great fun, usually loud. - Do you drink much alcohol? no, not really. - How do you handle the problem with drugs? I dont, I have a no tolerence policy. - Do you more like to go to the disco or private parties? Depends on the party. Write back and tell answers on the same questions. JAMIE

Jamie to Knuddel, I agree about the drugs... my mom is an oxy cotton addict, that crap will screw you up so bad you won't recover from it. I know that Germany is the goth capital of the world... that’s wicked awesome, I am so jealous! I currently live in China and Chinese people don’t even know what gothic is! I have been trying to educate them, but they just don’t get it... Now we have a few more questions to you: - Which are your favourite bands/groups? I LOVE kittie, Korn is my absolute favourite!, I also enjoy Coal Chamber, Still Remains, As I lay dieing, just junk like that i am not overly pickey, just hard and heavy. - What do you do usually in your free time? Free time in China is really restricted, as there is nothing to do. I mostly spend time at internet cafes. that really is all there is to do. this is not a very westernized city, more than most, but still lacking in certain areas... - What attitude do your friends have to parties/drugs/music? Me and my friends share the same opinions on all that stuff.

Hi Jamie! What is an oxy cotton addict? *smile* Yes, here in Germany are many Gothic people. On our school are round about 800 students from age 11 to 19 and we are 10-15 Gothics.=0) - Which are your favourite bands/groups? Jasmina: I love Hip Hop, so my favourites are 50Cent, the Game, 2Pac and so on and of course german rappers like Bushido. Vi: My favourites groups are Subway to Sally, In Extremo, Schandmaul, Coppelius, Skinny Puppy and so on... Metal: I like ASP, KNORKATOR, Lordi and this stuff! - What do you do usually in your free time? Jasmina: Most free time is for me doing my homework and learn for school. But I also like meeting my friends and sit with them in a Café just drinking something and talking. Vi: I also have to learn a lot...-.-* But I love going to a pub with Jasmina and my other funny friends just to have fun!

What attitude do your friends have to parties/drugs/music? Jasmina: My friends, except for Vi, have the same opinion to parties like me. But with drugs is a problem. Many of my friends smoke grass or they breathe the gas of cream caps! It’s really silly to me but when they think they have to do it... it is their life! And with music, we all listen to different kinds of it... Vi: My friends don’t take drugs as far as I know...I do not take them either, except for smoking! Maybe you can tell us a little bit about your culture in China? We are really interested in it. Do you maybe have any new questions???????? We hope to get an e-mail back soon.......Many lovely greetings Vi and Jasmina

Hi Vi & Jasmina, Chinese culture is very weird.. Most of them are very immature. They live in 3 generation families. Like the kids, parents, and grandparents all live together. It is only legal for the Han Chinese (which is the majority) to have one child, so families are small. Minorities (Bai zu, Li zu, Liu zu, etc...) however are allowed to have 2 or 3 if they are farmers. The foreign culture here is weird as well though, because there are Europeans, Koreans, Australians, New Zealanders, and Americans. There are a lot of different cultures. But as high school, the culture is to gossip about everyone that is not like you. weird and immature, I do not participate in any of this. People tend to be very narrow-minded. I only have a few questions today.. What is the legal drinking age in Germany? How are people viewed who do and don’t drink? How are people viewed who do or do not do drugs? Is there a lot of diversity? Jamie

Hi Jamie! What is the legal drinking age in Germany? - here in Germany the legal drinking age for beer, wine and sparkling wine is 16 and for every other alcoholic drink it’s 18. But in many stores and in the disco you mostly get every drink with the age of 16!

How are people viewed who do, and don’t drink? - people who drink "one beer in the pub" are not viewed in any different way than those guys who drink coffee! But the people who really drink the whole day and night long are some kind of excluded from society. How are people viewed who do or do not do drugs? - We don’t know really what to say about this because it’s often different! The people I (Jasmina) know who take drugs are treated like every other person. But the most only smoke grass or other kinds of not real hard drugs. In some groups there are only people who take drugs and they want people who are new in the group to take drugs, too. And in other groups there are only a few or no people who take drugs but the ones who do are viewed like every other. Is there a lot of diversity? - how do you mean this? In which relation?? lovely greetings, jasmina and vi
