- What's your opinion to that day?

- Do you like it or is it just an ordinary day like all the others?

- Do you celebrate it?

- Have you experienced any special or maybe funny lovestories?

So if you became interested, write back with a short image of yourself. We are looking forward to your e-Mails!

Hy Timur!

We are the two girls from Germany (Flirting-line). We like Sports and Music, too.

First a short description of Darja:

Hi! I'm 16 years old. I like sport, too, especially basketball (of course Volleyball and Football, too, but I can't play it very well). I came to Germany two years ago from Omsk, Russia. I hope you can speak Russian. I learned German and now I can speak it very well, but I like Russian much more. My hobby is music. I like singing very much. Tell us something about you.

Now it's Laura’s part:

Hy! I'm 17 years old and like Darja I like sport. In my free time I play Volleyball in a group of 23 kids in the age of 12 to 17 years. Also I love Music, I play the Violin. But more than Classic Music I'm interested in music from other countries, especially in music from Africa and the Carribean Islands (great Rhythms). I'm also interested in visiting these countries, years ago I was in the Dominican Republic.

All in all we can say that we are two really great personalities, we think our friends know that.

So now it's your part, are there also other things your interested in? Maybe your interested in answering our topic - flirting (have a look to our introduction : MG Jever, Class 11b, Group Flirting-line).

See you, Darja and Laura, 11b, Jever

Hello Darja, Laura, Jewgeni and Alex!!!

We are students from Germany and we want to discuss your topic, because its easy to write our opinion. We don’t like Valentine’s day, because it’s a normal day and it’s profit-seeking .It’s sad that some people give somebody something as a present only on this day. Normally you can surprise your boy-/ girlfriend whenever you want to… but we received a present and it was very nice. Unfortunately we didn’t give a present to our boyfriends.

Three years ago Lisa was in Paris and visited the Louvre and Notre Dame. There she got to know us and we became best friends. In Paris we were with a group from “Rainbow Tours”. After a few days Lisa met the boy of her dreams. He looked like an angel. Blue eyes, blond hair and he was suntanned. At the first moment she felt butterflies in her stomach. His name was Jean- Pascale and he was seventeen years old. Lisa knew that she hadn’t got a chance but she wanted to spend time with him…

He felt her eyes on his muscular body and went to her. When Jean- Pascale came to her she was very nervous and her heard beat faster. His wonderful words were, “Do you want to see this romantic city with me? I know a place where we can go to look over the whole city. After that we can eat something like baguette with a bottle of wine.” Lisa was so happy and she could answer only “yes”. They made a date at the same time and place. The next morning Lisa woke up early and was nervous. “What should I wear? I want to look sexy…!” she thought. After two hours she went to the place where she met him. It was her first date and she thought it was a great love. All day she was happy and they visited a lot of sights. In the afternoon they ate baguette with cheese and drank wine. One glass later she felt safe and free. She took his hand…

Suddenly she woke up and didn’t know where she was. Lisa was naked!! She heard only the water from the Seine. She felt a bit disoriented. When she looked in her pocket, all her money had been stolen. Fast she ran into her hotel. Everybody looked at her. The wind was very cold. “What had happened? Where was Jean- Pascale? “ she asked herself. Finally the holiday was over and she didn’t see Jean- Pascale again. At the bus station, where she waited for the bus, she saw Jean- Pascal wearing her t- shirt and her shorts. Besides he was kissing another boy…! Lisa couldn’t believe it. It was the most horrible day in her life.

We hope you enjoy our small story.

Bye Aileen, Rieke and Kirsten, 11b, Jever

Hey guys!

I like your topic: Valentine’s day! And so I decided to write something about this topic to you!

I like Valentine’s day very much, because it’s a very romantic day. But I think for people who aren’t in a relationship at the moment it’s not a special day. For singles it’s only an ordinary day, like every other day. And most people of our age are single, I think. But there a some people who hate Valentine’s day. I can understand that very well. If you wish you would be in a relationship or if you broke up with your boy-/girlfriend some time ago it’s not very easy on the “day of love”.

I think Valentine’s day is only the chance to tell one person that you love her/him, and it shouldn’t be forced. Like: “Oh no! Tomorrow is Valentine’s day! And I forgot to buy roses and chocolates! Shit…my wife will be insulted again!”

I wouldn’t like it if somebody only gave flowers or something else to me, because it’s Valentine’s day and not because he wants to show to me that he loves me. And to show that to me, it’s not necessary that it’s Valentine’s day. But I think it’s a nice and romantic idea and in my opinion that’s because nearly every woman likes Valentine’s day.

What is your opinion to the Valentine’s day?
Write back! Silke, 11b, Jever

Hello Darja, Laura, Alex and Jewgeni!
For me Valentine’s day is an ordinary day because I don’t have a boyfriend. But I think it’s very lovely when a boy gives some flowers to his girlfriend to show her his love, or when they spend their day together in a romantic way. In fact, I’m a very romantic person but it doesn’t matter to me when I spend my time with a boy. It can be any other day. I know from Hanna that in Finland it’s much different. Valentine’s day is very important there. I got a card from her for Valentine’s day, so I bet that everyone gives presents on this day, if it’s to a boyfriend or just a near friend, that doesn’t matter and I think it’s very kind, I’d like that! In South-Africa they have Valentine’s day, too and they celebrate it just as in Germany, with small presents and best wishes. You asked for my experiences on Valentine’s day, but nothing happened to me. I went to the Rahmann on the Saturday before Valentine’s day, there was a Valentine’s party with little surprises, for example the disc-jockeys handed out some sparklers and then they played the song from “Die Söhne Mannheims” :  “Und wenn ein Lied meine Lippen verlässt”, it looked really awesome! They gave some roses to pairs, too. I think that was a great idea, they can repeat it! It was a great evening for me and my friends, even though we didn’t find a boyfriend. This was my little story to Valentine’s day!
Bye, Wiebke, 11b, Jever

Dear Darja, Laura, Jewgeni and Alex
I think your topic Flirting-line is a very good theme to talk about. I’ll try to tell you something about my opinion.

I think Valentine’s Day is very important in the relationship between man and woman or boy and girl. If you imagine a romantic evening with a nice dinner, candlelight and music, that could be very nice.

Do you have you an argument with your friend; this is an occasion to make it up with her/him.  But I think some humans overdo it, because for some it’s the only day a year to give his or her friend e.g. flowers. You should always show, you love the other one, not only on Valentine’s Day.

I didn’t celebrate it; maybe that’s why I don’t have a boyfriend yet.

Dörthe, 11b, Jever

Hey you
I hate Valentine’s day because I think it’s a day like the others. When you like somebody you can say it to him every other day too, not just on Valentine’s day. I think it’s a better surprise when you get a present from your boyfriend/girlfriend on another day, when you don’t count with it. Valentine’s day is just a good day for shops because on these days all things are more expensive than on usual days. In my opinion Valentine’s day could be abolished.
What do you think about it? You didn’t talk about your opinion. I would like to have your opinion to this topic.
Bye Verena, 11b, Jever

For me Valentines Day is just an ordinary day like all the others, too.  People who love each other do not need an additional day to show it. I think for preserving a love it’s important to say “I love you” or some emotions and acts which express the love they feel. Making presents is necessary on birthdays and Christmas. Sometimes it shows how much the partner knows about the interests of the other one.

The only aim of Valentines Day is business. All they are after is your money.

To draw a conclusion, people who pay a lot of money for Valentines Day are not very clever. What a waste of money.

Hey you !

We, Caro and Kyra, would like to write something about your topic.

So, here we go…

We both think that it’s horrible if you need a special day to express your feelings to somebody you like or love. Saying “I love you!” on Valentine’s Day is rather a hollow phrase as you’re kind of forced to say it  because you are expected to do so.

Furthermore, “I love you” should have a deep and serious meaning. That’s why we think that the more intimate and unexpected the moment is in which you say it, the more saying “I love you” gains in honesty and significance.

Therefore, in our eyes, you should avoid putting a special emphasis on saying “I love you” particularly on Valentine’s Day.

If you still want to show your affection by offering a present then it should be something very personal and just a simple but loving gesture.

Besides, in our opinion Valentine’s day could be an invention of the flower industry. ;)

We mean, who actually DOESN’T buy flowers on Valentine’s Day?!

So, what’s your opinion on the matter?

Bye, Caro & Kyra, 11b, Jever

Hi dear friends,
What a wonderful topic you have picked up!
I like Valentine's Day because it's happy and it's about love. We call this day as "Love Day". Valentine's Day is new in Iran but it's popular among the young people. They celebrate it buying Valentine's gifts for their loved ones, going to restaurants or attending Valentine's parties.
Some shops' sales in the week leading to Valentine's Day match those of Norouz, the Iranian New Year celebration. Many florists order two or three times the usual number of red roses and have more orders for bouquets and baskets than they can handle.
Bye, Zahra, Tehran

Hi Zahra,
I'm very surprised that you like Valentine's day because most of the German students don't like it. So I'm happy that you like it too! Valentine's day is a wonderful day that should remind the people of the good side of life. I know that you can show your partner how much you love him every day, but Valentine's day is something special! There is some magic and if someone didn't get a partner and the person is shy, but he really has strong feelings for someone, it is a perfect situation to tell it that person.
But the German students are of the opinion that this day is only good for the flower-shops because they can do a great profit especially on that day. That's right that they sell more flowers than on other days, but it's not about money, much more important is love!
That's why I like Valentine's day too.

Alex, Jewgeni, Darja and Laura, 11b, Jever

In our country we do not celebrate valentine's day as a common cultural ceremony. In the pas few years some Iranian boys and girls celebrate it.
This is a part of Christians' culture. We have had a similar Celebration for love called (Mihrgan) since Zoroastrians were governing Iran (about 1400 years ago). Mihrgan feast occurs on October 1 and is a time for love and gratitude for life. [In ancient times] King Zohak was very cruel to the people. So a blacksmith named Kaveh, with the help of others, sought out Faridoon who then caught Zohak and killed him on Mount Damawand. Faridoon then became king and the peoples' lives were saved. For these reasons, King Faridoon and all the people had a great celebration on that day.
